Thyme after time
While starting my quarantine cleaning I found a gift that I received from my brother and his wife last Christmas. I didn’t have time to set it up when I received it and like with most Christmas stuff I put it away and said I’d come to it another day. I decided that today was that day.
It was a hydroponic garden that allows you to grow herbs and greens indoors. The one that they got me was made by Aerogarden and was fairly simple to set up. The box came with a vessel that holds water for the plants, 6 spaces for different seed pods and a grow light.
The herbs that came with the set up were dill, curly parsley, thai basil, genovese basil, mint, and thyme.
Everything was simple and fool proof. I filled the reservoir with water and the included plant food. Placed the pods in the spots that I wanted based on how tall they would grow and I plugged it in and left it alone. The first to sprout was the genovese basil. This gave me a sense of accomplishment because it was the first time I grew something from seeds. Everything grew except .... the thyme. I thought it was pretty ironic that what I had an abundance of while in quarantine (time) wouldn’t grow as a plant (thyme). Eventually I put a new pod of thyme and it has started to grow, of course once I started working again.
I have to say this was a fun thing to do during quarantine. It gave me something to look forward to everyday. Definitely something everyone should try.
